Replacing a hot-water cylinder

If your cylinder is old, damaged or has stopped working, we can arrange a complete replacement. We remove the old cylinder and replace it with a new one.

We also fit a new shut-off valve and safety valve. Where necessary, we recommend a pressure-reducing valve to help protect the cylinder and hot-water pipes from excessive pressure.

After replacement, we take away the old cylinder or storage tank and arrange its disposal.

Replacing a cylinder safety valve

The safety valve is an important part of a hot-water cylinder installation. Water expands as it heats up, increasing pressure in the system. The safety valve protects the cylinder by allowing excessive pressure to be released safely.

An old valve, a valve that is not working correctly or one exposed to high pressure for a long time may need replacing. We replace safety valves on hot-water cylinders, heaters and storage tanks.

A pressure-reducing valve helps protect your cylinder and pipes

Water pressure in some properties may be too high. In these cases, a pressure-reducing valve should also be considered upstream of the cylinder.

It reduces incoming water pressure to a set level and helps protect the safety valve, cylinder, pipes and other components of the hot-water system.

A typical installation often has only a shut-off valve and safety valve. Higher water pressure may call for an additional pressure-reducing valve.
